NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks were trading lower heading toward midday on Monday after China's finance minister indicated the country will not increase stimulus measures and U.S. housing data fell short of expectations.

Recent data in China has been weak, leading many analysts to lower their growth forecasts and hope for more aggressive accommodations from the government. In remarks on Sunday, Finance Minister Lou Jiwei said China wouldn't dramatically alter its economic policy because of any one economic indicator.

[ALL MALAYSIANS MUST READ THIS]
Going by Bank Negara statement last week, I believe one thing.
Malaysia’s real interest rate has bottomed at 3.25% and is set to go up over the next few months to the next five years.
This will serious implications on all Malaysian life style. Loans, inflation, investment, properties, education, wealth and of course salary.
On the flipside, the USA Fed Reserve will stop dollar printing and funds will flow back to the USA as interest rates rise and catch up with Malaysia.
What does that mean ?
Dollar should go up. Gold and silver should go down. All favourite major forex especially Aussie, Loonie, Kiwi and even Ringgit should trend down. Economic sensitive assets such as copper, oil and gas should fly. USA linked Malaysian tech stocks and of course local banking stocks will definitely be hot over next few months.
By the way, Malaysia’s interest rates are the highest at 3.25% while most of neighbour has lower rates. Australia, has an interest rate at just 2.5%. The European Union, Japan and the USA have almost zero. 0.25% for the US, 0.1% for Japan and 0.05% for Europe. That means, nearly the whole world have lower interest rates than Malaysia.
I humbly dont care. Interest rates go up simply because the time has come that global economic recovery has rebound and equities should remain particularly strong.
No wonder, Nasdaq hit 14 year high and the Mega IPO, Ali Baba beat Facebook after hitting USD100 (from IPO price of USD68).
Very good time for Bursa ahead and very good time for traders now. Anybody believe me ?

A measure of support comes with a late rebound in the finance and properties shares, supported in part by Bank Negara maintaining accommodative OPR rates of 3.25%. Late week push in the FBMKLCI back above 1840 turns the short-term trend in the market in favour of the bull camp, with resistance coming in at the September 12th and 29th August contract high near 1870 and 1880 respectively. Swing low support levels for the index stand at 1840 and 1800 respectively. The close over the 200-day moving average indicates the longer-term trend could be turning up. Rising momentum studies (RSI, Stochastics & MACD) in the positive zone reinforce higher price action next week. Finally, on the domestic front, the upcoming Budget 2015 (scheduled on 10th October) and the impending launching of 2014 biggest mega IPO namely 1MDB, Iskandar, Weststar and Carimin Berhad should be market positive. We expect these two catalyst to raise foreign investors interest, attract more Bursa foreign inflows and spur the market in the traditionally bullish year-end-season. While local blue chips consolidate with buoying sentiment, impressive rotational interest on local small caps should showcase healthy risk taking with active retail participation accumulating penny stocks such as KTB, Teckseng, Pasukhas, Nexgram and Efficen. The fact that the interest rate remain low and the Malaysian economy performed strongly in the first half of 2014 with real GDP growth of 6.3% year-on-year over this period (higher than all other major countries in the Asia-Pacific other than China), should eventually translate into higher FBMKLCI price. Strategy wise, given that the short term trend has turned positive toward 1870, traders should accumulate and capitalize on weaker ringgit and ride on upturns in economically-sensitive sectors before the bullish year end. While conservative investors may buy our weekly roadshow FIFTEEN Featured Stocks i.e. Maybank, Hong Leong Bank, Bursa, Westports, Sunway, CMSB, SunReit, IGBReit, Hong Leong Ind, Matrix, Gabungan Aqr, Scientex, DNEX, BJAuto and Pasukhas Berhad, aggressive bulls might consider buying FBMKLCI index futures on a breakout above 1850, positioning for a larger jump to an all-time-high of 1900.

[GLOBAL STOCKS RISE SHARPLY, WALL STREET HITS RECORD HIGH AFTER POSITIVE FED PROJECTIONS, FBMKLCI SHOULD U-TURN AND REBOUND]
Going forward, we expect local market to end correction and rebound higher driven by a strong Wall Street finish, prospects for a more dovish Fed tone, positive Scotland referendum and a fresh People Bank of China 500 billion yuan liquidity injection. While Bursa FBMKLCI found strong support near 1840 level, the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial rose to a record closing high of 2,011 and 17,221 respectively as global participants digested the latest bullish policy update from the Federal Reserve. It is clear that the Fed’s meeting appeared to prepare the way for the start of interest rate rises, while at the same time doing as much as possible to avoid a negative reaction in asset markets notably at the long end of the Treasury market and in equities. Most economist expect the rise in the median level of the projections for Fed funds rate sends a clear signal that the hiking process will only start in mid-2015. The USA central bank reduced its monthly asset purchases by a small USD15bn and reiterated its pledge to keep interest rates low for a considerable time following the likely conclusion of its quantitative easing programme next month. We note that the dollar index climbed to a 14-month high which is also confirmed by gold which was down to a four year low at USD1,223 an ounce. Meanwhile, pound sterling rallied as the markets appeared to factor in the prospect of a ‘No Vote’ in Scotland’s independence referendum. European equities outperformed with the FTSE Eurofirst 300 index reaching a two-week high as the European Central Bank talk of further Eurozone policy easing. The euro also rally against the dollar despite the higher expectations of further ECB easing and heightening speculation that the ECB would embark on a programme of government bond buying. Despite anticipation of the Fed statement dominating market thinking for most of the session, the global stocks had a relatively good time pricing in the stronger than expected USA economy. On the Asian front, the report that the People’s Bank of China would provide the country’s five biggest commercial banks with Rmb500bn of liquidity, to stimulate flagging growth, will help bolster Asian stocks. Investors regarded this action as another small targeted easing move to benefit all interest rate sensitive stocks. On the technical front, FBMKLCI saw a tight and choppy trading range ahead of the Wall Street opening, as it consolidated last week downside breakdown action
