observations and assumption

2. The NTA for LSTEEL is RM1.10, now it is trading 0.3 x of NTA. More potential upside. The expanding of business still on going. Turnover keep rising YoY.

baseless speculations/ fake news:

1. The management is controlling almost 75% of it share by direct or indirectly. Due to liquidity of share in the open market is less, the price can be easily manipulated.
- are you suggesting or recommending the management to manipulate share price? it's not the 1990s you know, baseless goreng can get you tea time with SC

3. The management keep on buy back his own share up to 3.1% of total share. The management is very confidence of its business and know the market trend very well especially the Founder, they can smell better than a lot of retailers.
- every business man has confidence in their business. But is unrelated to that, buyback was probably for 1. support price 2. company is of the view that the stock is selling cheap on market

4. The really good news for LSTEEL still not yet emerge, but the price of LSTEEL has been rebound from its low of RM0.25.
- and what is this good news?

5. One of the secret weapon for LSTEEL is trading of iron ore and manganese. The increase and stable price of iron ore will lead LSTEEL to more profitable results in coming quarters. Its contribute nearly 20% of group revenue .The price of iron ore is around USD 110 now arising after dam breach in vale , Brazil.
- LSTEEL doesn't trade in iron ore

9. In 19 Feb 2019, MITI has terminated the antidumping HRC from China and Indonesia, LSteel product raw material is HRC. Cheaper raw material mean high profit in subsequent quarter results for sure.
- how does antidumping HRC result in lower raw material cost? didn't you just say iron ore price increase

no comment on technical

6. Theedgemarkets.com highlighted stocks with positive momentum the “+ve” (suggesting a rising price trend on volume)

7. 4 continuously monthly moving average line is in red. This suggest bullish on the price movement.

8. Potentially forming round bottom pattern in the making.

Great to have someone to discuss with, the steel market counter definitely need people with more in the know to shed light. My question is, if China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam Thailand affected by the US tariff, would dumping effect affect Malaysian steel manufacturers? Steel finished goods got no import tariff as of my understanding. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trade-asia/asia-may-face-steel-aluminum-glut-with-trumps-tariff-plan-idUSKCN1GE14V

I happened upon some info from steel industry that I need help with analyzing. In 2016 Malaysia's Bars, Section, Pipe & Tube estimate consumption 5.27mil MT, about 2.5mil MT import, <0.5mil MT export . Overall 40% steel imports from China, 19% from Japan, 11% from Korea, 9% from ASEAN, I don't have the specific products' import countries. The import numbers mean that the market is big enough for Malaysian manufacturers to do more, or it could also mean, regional competition can do more. Would like to hear more expert thoughts, thank you all.

Steel player Hiap Teck Venture Bhd saw its net profit for the second quarter ended Jan 31, 2018 increase by more than sevenfold to RM30.54 million from RM3.90 million a year ago .(http://www.thesundaily.my/news/2018/03/29/hiap-teck-see-sevenfold-rise-q2)

it's been a long day from where we begin , so glad to see hiapteck back!!!

“However, the recent announcement by the United States under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act 1962 to impose 25% import tariffs on steel products may have an impact on the steel export market globally. The group remains optimistic on the steel industry outlook in Malaysia as it is well supported by the strong fundamentals in the construction activities as evidenced by the 5.8% growth in the construction sector in the fourth quarter of 2017. This positive growth is attributed to all sub-sectors particularly in public transport infrastructure projects,” it said.

Agree with the sentiments regarding US tariff, majority of Malaysia steel consumption is tied to construction industry, as is other ASEAN5. (http://www.seaisi.org/News/5250/Iron+and+Steel+Industry+in+ASEAN:+Characteristics+and+Supply+Capability) However if other Asian ASEAN countries can't export to US (exclusion rules not finalized yet), that might affect steel finished goods competition in local market. So far though, raw materials price is up, shortage across the market, but I believe Hiap Teck always has one up their sleeves when it comes to raw material, should be good for Q3.

Hope someone can shed even more light on Eastern Steel.

“So far we have delivered more than 80% of the output to the construction and the industrial sectors. Although the price of steel per tonne has increased, we expect the margin to contract slightly this quarter due to price pressure,” she said.

Seems like Q1 may be affected despite better top line. Heard raw material price is high and shortage in market, anyone in hardware can confirm?

Regarding 232 steel tariff, imo, likely to affect scrap reliant upstream producers. Effect on regional downstream players may be delayed.

Q2 Q3 market looks good, pricing good raw material shortage, personally expecting to see good short term financial results. But stock market is stock market, hoping for a turnaround in share price.

@onlyinvestment I have a 'feeling' the management might speak and reiterate September statement. But would that satisfy you? What else would you like to know, on a serious note?

Ask Datin when rebar production running.
Ask Datin what the solution of lower selling price for mineral .

Share price, that's dependent on share market and war chest. I'm sure you're an experienced investor and know this.

Ask datin why mislead market before QR release.
Ask Datin when rebar production running.
Ask Datin what the solution of lower selling price for mineral .
Ask Datin when the price back to 70 cents because a lot people buy at this high price due to the interview.
Ask Datin push the share price to 70 cents above due to she said QR 4 will be better if compare the nearest 5 years ( for me should be happened in at Q3 because the interview).
And one question for you@helping hand , who are you and how you can meet Datin simply 2 ?

2017-12-14 10:56 | Report Abuse

@helpinghand you have misunderstood my phrase, I meant that there is no need for defending the people running the company. But stock market is not dependent on whether you have good character or not, it is dependent on sharebuyer/seller behavior.

Posted by Helpinghand > Dec 13, 2017 05:19 PM | Report Abuse

i will try my best to find way to speak to datin, if she do not help the minority shareholders, we might need to do something to take action, for example send complain to SC, or bursa

Posted by Helpinghand > Dec 13, 2017 03:08 PM | Report Abuse

i am not defending. i am stating facts. from tone, you sound very harsh and more like the one defending.

i am just trying to reach out and help others on the same boat as me.

dont think everyone here needs your lecture

Posted by Helpinghand > Dec 13, 2017 03:24 PM | Report Abuse

a little thing that Datin can do now is to eat up the sellers queing at 0.52, 0.525 and 0.53, and then give a public statement to say that Q4 will be the good quarter and 2018 will be good. she must explain that she meant that financial year 2017 is good, not Q3 (as it show a loss after tax)

to regain shareholder confidence, she must do this. let's hope that happen

Posted by Helpinghand > Dec 14, 2017 12:46 AM | Report Abuse

i advise all Leader shareholders to share my message

2017-12-13 15:06 | Report Abuse

@helpinghand There is no need for defending. Yes, sentiments are out there for the people who have been caught in bad timing. But even if companies and people in them are good, the share market .. "It will fluctuate my boy, it will fluctuate." I'm just readying for the next roller coaster ride.

@onlyinvestment Are you familiar with steel industry? Or you put two and two together (news and questionable analyst on i3) and put money in this counter? A few people pointed out that there is a share throw across steel counters, also heard conspiracy theory that funds are lowering share price to acquire low for the anticipated steel price hike in the coming months; but these are all hear say. In this counter I see Amanahraya (used to be big shareholder) has been decreasing its shareholding in the company across time, probably to get out of small cap, may have to do with the share price decrease (can't tell since it was no longer major shareholder since July so whatever it had left the share movement wouldn't be announced). But none of these matter if you're steadfast in your own belief of what happened, do they? chanteckfai has gotten out, best of luck to you.

@Lau333 sorry lots of questions, just want to understand more how to distinguish between the steel players and who are competitors: Any info on Alliance's local/export %? The product range similar or difference from our big 4 steel plants? There was a post on cost structures difference between the big 4 by davidtslim (http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/david_masteel/139566.jsp), would be good to know if Alliance and Samalaju/ Bintulu got any cost advantage and product range difference over our big 4.

It is a surprise that no one questions an anonymous poster's credibility on the internet. So I'll start: who is your source at Leader Steel? You said you have met with company representatives and seem to have some insider info, how would we know if they are true representations? Please, provide evidence supporting your claims.
