KUALA LUMPUR (March 19): Macpie Bhd, which is acquiring a 35% stake in Techninier Sdn Bhd, said today that the target company has signed an agreement concerning deployment of services to eSukan.gg, a government linked e-sports portal.

Macpie said this in response to the unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia today, after the counter hit limit up in active trade today.

Shares of Macpie shot up by as much as 30 sen, before settling at 55.5 sen — still up 26 sen or 88.14% from its last close of 29.5 sen. It was the most active counter on Bursa Malaysia of the day. Its trading volume ballooned to 300.08 million shares, which is nearly one-third of its issued share capital of 918 million shares.

"The company would like to inform that Techninier Sdn Bhd has signed a master service agreement concerning deployment of services to eSukan.gg, a government linked e-sports portal, which was stamped on March 17, 2021," Macpie's filing said.

"The company, together with Techninier Sdn Bhd, is at various stages of discussion with several international and local enterprises for sponsorship deals concerning the eventual collaboration between the company and Techninier Sdn Bhd for eSukan.gg.

"The discussions so far are not concrete and deemed immaterial at this stage," it added.

Macpie's proposed acquisition of 35% in Techninier on Feb 2, 2021 values the company at RM90 million. The mobile game platform provider booked a net profit of RM5 million for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2019, while revenue stood at RM21 million.

Techninier, Macpie said, is renowned in the Southeast Asian region for its social and mobile gaming network platforms. It also has an experienced team handling mobile and digital content as well as game design and deployment.

Shares of Macpie has gained 133.68% this year. At its last close, the group is valued at RM510.01 million.
