Q: How do you determine if a stock gapping up is buyable? If it is buyable, how do you time your entry? Do you enter on the open or wait for it to trade for a while? after the 1st 1/2 hour? later in the day? I am sure there are no hard and fast rules that govern when to buy gap ups, but I would love to pick your brain on a generalized topic such as this.



A: A stock gapping up is buyable if it is showing top quality fundamentals (excellent earnings, sales, return on equity, pretax margins, industry group, institutional support, etc) as well as top quality technicals (the price/volume action leading up to the gap up day should be constructive).

As for how you time your entry, you hit on a key point- there are indeed no hard and fast rules that govern when to buy gap ups. You have to consider:



=the behavior of the general market prior to and on the gap up day

=the behavior of the stock prior to and on the gap up day

=the overall fundamental and technical strength of the stock

=the gap up volume after the stock opens for trade- how much volume is coming into the stock during the first 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, etc

=you may just decide to buy the stock at the open, which is ok as long as you realize that the stock could fall during the trading day beyond your maximum risk levels and force you out of the position

=you may decide to wait until later in the day to see how well the gap up holds even if it means you might have to pay a bit more.

Good morning! XOX is getting a lot of attention. Today expect gap up to 23 sen!! If break 25 sen we will see a surge to 30 sen! Hold tight. DJIA up 320 points. Sentiment is very bullish. XOX the cheapest telco company at the moment compare to Digi $5.63, Maxis $6.75....XOX the future IFCA is targeted to be at least $1 by next year based on the momentum and interest in the current year.

XOX was listed on 24th May 2011 with the issue price IPO 80 sen. It dropped to a low of 21 sen on 3rd Oct 2011. It takes only 6 months!!!!
Today on 22nd Oct 2015 we break the resistant of 21 sen!!!! So base on our calculation it should take another 6 months to reach back the IPO price of 80 sen!!! which will be around May 2016. That was the symmetrical pattern I saw...wow it takes 5 years for XOX to recover back to its original price!

Buy and keep around 8 - 8.5 sen for long term. TP 15 sen - 20 sen in 2016.

I opened up the chart from 2011 to 2015. Holy cow...what did I see????? I saw a symmetrical pattern...there is a curve...like a fish bowl...

Tomorrow will gap up....due to the strong bullish momentum. Those late comers will notice the buy signal reflected in their chart downloaded tomorrow morning and will queue to buy. Remember real time monitor is always faster to catch the buy breakout signal but the problem is nobody is so free to monitor 24 by 7 as a lot of investors are working full time and trading part time. They normally subscribe to offline data to be downloaded and their software will analyst those buy signal. Expect some strong buying tomorrow!!!!!!
