Finally announcement of contract extension for road concession is made..
2018-06-18 17:43 | Report Abuse
an article posted by the Edge few hours ago mentioned that sarawak may give its state road concessions via open tender...plus, CMSB has not publish any announcement that they had tendered any road concessions from the state...therefore the selldown as CMSB *may not get the project anymore..

correct, the 3rd mall is the Southkey at Johor...
Ya, for the short term, the 0 GST is more like a 'booster' jab, the "feel-good" cheaper factor is there, it should boost some spending; for longer term, yes we will still need the economy, consumer spending power, etc etc...

actually the QoQ is not so well ya, the material costs and labor costs ate into the profits, need to see the costs are contained first before people will jump in, or jump out...escalation of costs will be disastrous...

Lionind's rev n profit based on report pg8-9, on Steel ops alone,
Revenue increased about 5% Qoq, profit up about 10%.
Including property, b.materials etc, the profit dropped due to property segment recognised losses (refer to pg 8 and 9 for comments).
Of course Lionind has parkson's profit to even out the losses from property segment.
Unlike some steel players their products focus on property use steels so when property industry is not doing well, they will be affected by sales, and maybe margin if fight for sales. Lionind's on the other hand has many types, and the production capacity (which other players have maxed out) to absorb any big projects at a reasonable price, this should bode well with the new govt's direction to save costs on any projects.

I'd think that it is because consumer sentiment is boosted by the drop of GST, as IGBReit's assets are the 2 malls, going to 3, increased consumer spending == more visits to malls?

1 of the things one need to consider when investing in "quiet" and "uncovered" stocks is that, the stock will be relatively little, or no transactions most of the time, as the floating shares are little, and very few, or no research firms have researched on it. Investing in such stocks require homework, and more importantly, patience.

not to mention that the treasury shares can be benefiting the shareholders in either:-
i) if distribute as share dividends, shareholders get free shares
ii) or, if cancel them off, reducing the supply from the market
iii) or, if sell off at higher price, company makes profit, increasing the EPS.
Either way, the shareholders will benefit from this.

Few points in the UOB report that raised some questions and perhaps need to get the facts right before publishing:-
i) "new competition comes from AllianceSteel which could add up 16% to existing capacity"
- China's AllianceSteel will sell to local market? because there were shareholders who attended Lion's AGM has the info that AllianceSteel will do mostly export biz; if they are to allowed to sell locally, then govt will be throwing rocks on their own legs as the steel tariffs against china imports is running currently from 2017-2020.
ii) On china's side of "be left with only 5m tonnes to cut in 2019",
- This has very minimal or none impact as the steel tariffs will go on till 2020 Apr. So even china boost up productions in 2018/19, the tariffs will well guard the local steel millers' interests until 2020.
iii) "the research firm thinks they require huge financial resources and long project payback period in restarting Banting plant"
- According to the feedbacks from Lion's AGM, unlike Antara, the Banting plant has newer machines and has staff to 'maintain' by running it periodically, it won't costs as much.
iv) "Lion Ind ramps up its utilisation rate at its Johor plant, which currently has a 20% utilisation rate"
- According to the Nov 2017 Lion AGM, the plant had a 30+% utilisation rate. UOB report's number was taken last year 2017 but published April 2018?

lately there have been someone collecting few hundred lots everyday, even after UOB turned cautious saying steel players' margin mayb be thinner going forward, are retailers ignoring the advice from UOB, or someone is taking this opportunity to collect?

anyone plan to exercise the warrants? I plan to...save some brokerage fees and grab at 40sens...looks worthwhile..
2018-03-25 10:18 | Report Abuse
assuming mother is 0.595, the warrant's exercise price is .40, means the warrants will likely to trade 0.195 or below..?

there will be indirect impact i guess, with China now may export much less Aluminium to the US, they will turn to other countries to export to, eg. Malaysia. I'm not sure if Malaysia has any tariffs on Alu. imports, if there is not, then yes, Alcom will be impacted indirectly.

checked back the chart against results, the disappointment results in prev quarter caused the price to drop to 2.1x levels, recent drop to below 2.10 was mainly due to people are afraid this qr (ended 31-Oct) could be worse than July's. But turned out it improved QoQ, by a small margin, i suspect share price should trade back up to 2.1-2.2...

For the FYE2017, PANAMY’s revenue have increased by 3% which is mainly due to increase in the sale of Fan products particularly in the export segment.
- Question, anyone knows if the Fan product segment is including its air-conditioners? or just pure Fan based products?
