Andy is challenging Malaysia government. He wants the companies to appoint him as advisor and not to work with government to improve the ESG compliance.

ATA IMS Committed To Work With Government On ESG Improvement

ATA IMS Bhd welcomed a visit from Human Resources Minister, Datuk Seri M Saravanan on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, towards fostering closer cooperation with the Government with its ongoing efforts in the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) spectrum.

“The Malaysian Government has stringent measures to comply with International Labour Organization’s (ILO) standards, and that ATA’s positive compliance with Malaysia’s rules and regulations shows that the organisation is moving towards achieving the industry benchmarks for ESG improvement. Speaking to some of the employees, I am assured that their welfare is being taken care of,” says Saravanan.


He encourages ATA and other industry players to be steadfast in efforts to resolve workplace issues and to constantly improve standards and practices towards ensuring inclusive and positive business continuity.

“The Minister, who was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR), Johor Department of Labour (JTK Johor) and Human Resources Development Corporation (HRDC), was pleased with the conducive working environment at the Company’s factories and found ATA’s employees’ accommodations at a satisfactory level,” the company says in a media release today.

For ATA, as a homegrown Malaysian company, it will ensure compliance with Malaysia’s national laws without compromise.

“We are committed to achieving and exceeding the standards to be one of the best Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) providers. Our employees are our strength, and their wellbeing and welfare are central to our business.”

ATA gave the Minister its firm commitment towards further improvement in its ESG practices and looks towards working closely with the Government, Ministry, and other relevant bodies on the road to becoming a model company in the EMS industry.

Dyson will be having meeting with ATA to discuss further on withdrawal of the termination.

Let's hope the meeting ends on reasonably amicable terms.

In my opinion Sir James Dyson should step into this matter and give ATAIMS opportunity to explain their side of story.

Dyson have taken action by hearsay from activist/syndicates. If this issue being investigated in proper manner, the truth will be revealed.

VS admitted they use illegal workers! Why Dyson haven't terminate their contract ? If VS makes Andy Hall happy, there will not be any actions taken towards them ?

Isn't this unfair to ATAIMS ??? Yet this was a fabricated forced labour accusations against ATAIMS.

Dear Andy Hall,

I am writing this open letter to you as a concerned investor in Bursa Malaysia in connection to the closed door virtual meeting hosted by Credit Suisse on the 11am, 2nd Dec 2021 where issues such as ‘modern slavery practices’ surrounding listed companies with the technology sector listed on Bursa Malaysia were discussed.

The aftermath of it was rather obvious and clear by now to all market participants. Following the virtual closed door meeting, some selected few companies which was mentioned in the meeting endured a volatile trading sessions and closed the day lower and as a result, invested investors of all groups be it retailers or institutions had to endure a significant destruction of their holdings on the 2nd of Dec.

While I recognise that the intention was to highlight some of the problems faced by foreign labourers in Malaysia is admirable, it is hugely irresponsible to single out or highlight or target specific publicly traded companies in the closed door call without any corroborating evidence or conclusive investigation shared to the public.

This call also occurred immediately right after ATA IMS’s loss of Dyson’s contract which is still fresh in investors' minds, hence the slightest hint on any companies of improper practices from you will trigger panic selling in the market.

As an advocate of transparency like your goodself, I urge you to share the recording of that discussion and articulate your findings objectively without prejudice to the wider public so investors can make better informed decision when investing.

I also read with interest that you were appointed by Sime Darby Plantation as a member of their Expert Stakeholder Human Rights Assessment Commission in March ’21 and subsequently resigned in July ’21,and also Top Glove as a 'critical friend' in April '21.

If you are able to, it will be helpful if you can disclose whether you have received any compensation from your appointment from those companies.

My concern here is that future ‘wrongdoers’, naturally will consider appointing advocates such as your goodself as a quick fix and treat it as a full absolution of their malpractices.

ATA facing labour shortage issue because Malaysia frozen the recruitment of foreign workers as well workers returning back to their home countires. ATA do not use foreign workers without work permits.

I wonder how other Dyson CM’s are managing this issue, are they using illegal workers ??? Just matter of time for things to get exposed.
