China Private Equity Investments Holdings Limited announces that it has purchased a total of 43 million shares in Patimas Computer Berhad (“Patimas”) through its subsidiary CPE Growth Capital Limited on 29 January 2013. The shares purchased, which are traded on the main market of Bursa Malaysia, (Stock Code: 7042), represent 5.2 per cent. of the total shares outstanding in Patimas and they were purchased for a total consideration of MYR4.7 million in cash (equivalent to US$1.5 million). As at 07 February 2013, the value of this investment was MYR3.0 million (equivalent to US$1.0 million).
Following the investment made in purchasing Patimas shares, CPE has remaining cash resources of US$0.12 million and short term loans granted to certain investee companies of US$0.85 million.
Patimas provides information and communication technology services and products in Malaysia and internationally. Patimas has a market capitalisation of MYR58.3 million (US$18.8 million) and for the financial year to 31 December 2012 it made a net loss of MYR86.50 million (US$27.9 million).
