PUTRAJAYA: Non-performing and lazy civil servants will not be rewarded under the revamped Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) next year, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Lazy and underperforming civil servants should not be given recognition under the new system," the Prime Minister said at the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service Association Townhall gathering in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebration here on Thursday (April 25).

He said this was part of the reforms within the civil service which will be done in tandem when the new remuneration scheme is implemented.

"This will be in regards with the civil service reforms as we hope to improve on performance," he added.

He said that this was among the matters raised when discussing ways to improve the salary structure of civil servants through the SSPA.

Anwar added that the revamped SSPA has huge financial implications on the government which should also come with an improvement in the performance of civil servants.

“If we want to assess performance, we cannot assume that it must be based on a person's seniority or experience," he added.

Anwar announced the SSPA when tabling Budget 2024 in Dewan Rakyat last Oct 13 with the full implementation expected to take place in 2025.

The decision on improving the civil service salary structure system is expected to be announced during the tabling of Budget 2025 this year.

Anwar said he would announce improvement proposals including efforts to increase the net income rate of civil servants at the Labour Day assembly this year.

Consolidate enforcement units.
Too many "thugs" on payroll as enforcement officer for each every petty departments.
RELA and auxillary police too are on the list. Are we in a war zone, that we need so many "jagas" in uniform? They are hired to protect civil servants from frustrated public.
