hey guys, can anyone tell me some downside risk of Insas?
2017-09-20 13:43 | Report Abuse
@investodiva, if i could answer that, i would already all in MITRA at this price... on the other hand, this project is already at 70% completion stage, early handing over claims is highly possible. I will check again around November to make sure about this.
Side note: I don't know why so many retail investors thinks that EPF is running away from this stock, from what I remember, EPF owns 5.9% of MITRA before the QR result and now they still own around 5.9%.

only time will tell who will be the winner, in a short run market is a voting machine while in a long run it is a weighing machine. My view is that this company is still full of positives that overweight the negatives.

Just to save you some of your time, the cost overrun was due to MITRAJAYA management not being aware that their client,PETRONAS has a new consulting firm for their project this time around. The new consulting firm has request a higher level of safety requirement which mitrajaya was did not expect as MITRAJAYA has previously hand over a project to PETRONAS with no such requirement.

@investodiva, my viewpoint is that malaysia retail investor are mainly short term players and short term view of mitrajaya is not good now considering RAPID project is hit with cost overrun. Thus, next 1 to 2 quarters results is expected affected badly. However, in a long term view, nothing much changed yet, considering property unbilled sales is increasing, land for property development doubled and orderbook could reach new highs considering that is already roughly 800million this year. Anyways, every construction company is bound to have cost overrun for some of their projects and we as retail investor should inquired further on the reason of the cost overrun.

To long term holders,
1) Look at trade receiveables, LAND held for property development increased by RM 131,116 Million. Cash expenditure on this land held was RM 76 MILLION this quarter. Mitra running out of cash or mitra getting more value assets? Up to you to decide. NA per share now 1.06.
2) Cost overrun will continue but till when? I have asked investor relation, the stage of completion is 70%. 70% for a project that is due July 2018.
3)However, the RAPID Project is projected to complete this year end. Mitrajaya would claim from Petronas client early handing over fees. How much would depend on how early is the handing over.
3) Throughout the 3/4 years, has MITRA shown a quarter that got worse from a previous quarter?
4) Why did this cost overrun happen? Petronas changed consulting group for this specific project. Previously, during their Putrajaya project with Petronas, such requirement was not necessary. Since pointing fingers is useless, the point of stating this is to tell the LONG TERM INVESTORS why is this happening and what is your perception on MITRAJAYA now?
In my opinion, the biggest risk MITRA face is now whether can they replenish their order book and how the unbilled property sales will turn out.
Side note: What is the average construction P/E for construction such as MITRA?
2017-08-31 09:02 | Report Abuse
Ssamani, if I am not wrong, EPF actually brought majority of their shares at 1.4x before ex-dividend.
One project cost overrun, I don't think reaction should be so big la. Main issue is whether can they secure more projects to replenish the group orderbook.

Regarding this, I guess it is best to call investor relation and ask.

Market cap drop by 40million, annual net profits drop by 3.7million.
Gross profit
The Group has recorded higher gross profit from RM28.1 million in the preceding quarter compared to RM31.3 million in current quarter, representing an increase of 11.4%. The substantial increase was mainly due to the followings:
1) increase in sales of better margin products
2) better results achieved by upstream factories.
Net profit don't tell all the stories.

EPF never con you, you con yourself.
Q1 up 55%, Q2 down 55%. You want panic sell or panic buy, decision is all up to you.

The oil and gas project was 2 years ago. You should see the big picture, sudden cost was incurred now but it does not change the fact the company is improving fundamentally YoY. Ex:this sudden cost is due to a project 2 years ago, if it was incurred then, can u see the growth percentage now?

don't see one quarter, see the whole year, this is construction company

another point is that at this depressed price, it should be expected that this company is taking losses.....but its still earning...

hey guys, is there something i am missing out? I read the financial reports and found the cash reserve of this company to be VERY HIGH....had to rub my eyes twice...checked liabilities...way lower than assets. What am i missing out on?

Gauging from 2013 to 2016, final half of financial year does better than first half. I am not sure whether is that how the business cycle works(monsoon season=disrupt log wood).

Just my thought, the share price flying down is just due to unjustified panic sellers. If you are a buyer that only see quarter results, you will tend to press the panic button too early. Just take a look at FLBHD balance sheet and cash flows.
Side note: The company's retained earnings are roughly 70% of the market share price now.

In my opinion, even with 0% growth, the company is already fairly valued. Calculate P/E,net cash holdings and let's assume 0% growth for the next 5 years. I calculated it to be fairly valued at current price.
btw, thanks for sharing that research report

Argee with MrJJ, mitra is suitable for long term holding. Just look at the YoY net profits growth and compared it to it peers.

I don't care whether the price up or down after I post the article, that wasn't the purpose of the article plus my way of investing isn't short term. I was asking how to make my article tied in with LATITUD forum?

Hey Tan KW, may i know how does a blog post end up at the headline of the counter forum?
2017-08-08 08:42 | Report Abuse
@shortinvestor77
Why bother with dividend if upside of capital appreciation is good? Unless you believe you are more capable of reinvesting the dividend than the company, I feel it should not matter.
Side note: Take a look at Berkshire.

Fairplayer,
hey, thank you for answering my questions.
I have been reading up details on their website. May I know if Newbie do not enter index warrant, then how should you start? Sorry if I am asking too much.

Hey fellow sifus,
I have been researching about indexes warrant as much as I can. However, there is still so much I do not understand. Here are few questions if anyone is kind enough to answer :
1) How does the issuer(Macquarie) profit from their effort in issue-ing this kind of warrants?
2) I study yesterday trend. HSI went down. Nearly all the put warrants went up by 10% to 40%. However, there was one call warrant (C38) that went up too. What causes such anomaly?
3) Any suggestion of materials that I should read up before actually starting to play such warrants?

Blog: Insas Undervalued?
2017-09-23 12:43 | Report Abuse
hey wltan22, from my understanding, u cannot calculate certain stuff like these. For example, NTA from associate company does not contribute to the assets of INSAS, only the subsidiary does. Besides that, if you assume Insas sold off Inari, you have to deduct the total amount recorded at non-current assets under Associate Companies. So you have to figure out what price did Insas brought Inari at first, then add all net profits contributed to Insas from Inari, deduct it by the dividend given yearly and then you get the pure value of Inari to Insas.
