Upon his return from Australia in 1972, En Wahab joined Malaysian Airlines System as Internal Auditor. He then moved to MIDF Industrial Consultants Sdn Bhd as Management Consultants and in 1979 was appointed as Director of Finance for Rubber Industries Smallholders Development Authority. In 1984 he joined Perwira Affin Bank Malaysia Berhad as Assistant General Manager/Chief Internal Auditor and was subsequently promoted to the position of General Manager. In 1995 he was appointed Group Managing Director of Business Focus Sdn Bhd.
