Dato' Sri was formerly attached to the Corporate Finance Division of N.M. Rothschild & Sons, UK, and was the Head of Corporate Planning at Sime Darby Berhad, during which he sat on several boards in the Sime Darby Group, including SD Holdings and Yayasan Sime Darby.

Dato' Sri has attended various management courses including one with distinction from Harvard, USA and has been awarded several nation-wide awards including the Malaysian Institute of Management (M.I.M.) Manager of the Year Award. He has also served as the Co-Chairman of the APEC Business Summit and was the Executive Director of the APEC Business Advisory Council.
