Dato' Rishya Joseph started his career with Bates Advertising in 1976 and has over 35 years experience in the advertising and communications industry. He has worked in New York, Sydney and parts of Asia, on a host of multinational accounts, including BAT, Toyota, Colgate, Sony, Guinness, BMW, Citibank, Astro, Maxis, Petronas, Shell, Yamaha, LG and Chevron, amongst others.

Dato' Rishya joined Dentsu Young & Rubicam Malaysia ("DY&R") in 1984 as Regional Account Director on the Colgate-Palmolive account. He was appointed Deputy Managing Director in 1988. The following year, he assumed the position of Managing Director for DY&R Malaysia.

In 1992, he was promoted to Vice-President, Regional Manager of DY&R with added responsibilities covering affiliated offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, India and Indonesia. In addition to his regional role, Dato' Rishya also assumed the position of Managing Director for the Malaysian DY&R office in 1989, being the first Malaysian to head a multinational agency in Malaysia.

In 2002, Dato' Rishya Joseph was appointed to the Executive Board of Dentsu Young & Rubicam, Asia Pacific.

In 2003, Dato' Rishya Joseph was appointed Senior Vice-President and Regional Director with responsibilities for South Asia.

In 2005, Dato' Rishya was appointed President of the International Advertising Association.

Dato' Rishya was appointed Chairman of Y&R's group of companies in Malaysia in 2008.

Dato' Rishya has served on various government committees and more importantly, worked on community service initiatives for various Malaysian and international organisations over the past 25 years.

In 2010, Dato' Rishya was appointed as one of the founding governors of 'Malaysia's Most Valuable Brands' Council.
