Working Experience
Mr. Lai started his career as an auditor at Ernst & Whinney Public Accountants in 1986. He joined PDL Wylex Sdn Bhd (now known as PWE Industries Bhd) which involved in the manufacturing and distribution of electrical accessories, and held various positions during the period from 1987 to 1990.
He joined Hume Industries Malaysia Berhad (A member of the Hong Leong Group) in mid 1990 and held various Senior positions with the last position as Chief Operating Officer. He spent 17 years with the said group, managing a divest business in manufacturing and distribution of building materials, and had gained vast experience in both marketing and manufacturing sectors. During his tenure with Hume Industries Malaysia Berhad, he was involved in a wide range of assignment covering general management, new business development and new business set up.
He was the Director of Sales & Marketing in Malaysian Mosaic Berhad, a company which involved in the manufacturing and distribution of ceramic tiles, from 2007 to 2009. He is also a Director of Goh Ban Huat Berhad.
