He began his career with the Chief Minister’s Department, Sabah Branch as Executive Officer, Service Division, Establishment Office and later became Principal Assistant Director, Training and Career Division, Establishment office in 1978. In 1982, he was appointed as the Principal Assistant Director, Service Division, Establishment Office and subsequently promoted to Secretary, Internal Affairs and Research Division in 1983. In 1984, he joined the Sabah Energy Corporation/Sabah Gas Industries Sdn. Bhd. as Personnel Manager/Senior Administration Officer and subsequently promoted to Senior Administration Manager in 1989. He joined back the Chief Minister’s Department as Principal Assistant Director, Research and Training Development, Human Resource Development Bureau in 1991 and later as Director, Resettlement Division and Cabinet and Policy Division. In 1996, he was the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Communication and Works and subsequently as Director, Science and Technology Unit. In 1999, he was appointed as Chairman of KKIP Communications Sdn. Bhd. before moving back to the Chief Ministers’ Department in 2000 as Director, Public Services Department. He is currently the State Secretary of Sabah, Chief Minister’s Department.
