Mr Yeoh Khoon Cheng started his career as an Audit Assistant with Deloitte Kassim Chan in 1979. He joined Lafarge Malaysia Berhad in 1987 as Finance Manager and has held various positions involving business development, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance activities and acted as Company Secretary from 1990 to 1998. He was appointed as Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer in January 1999 and held the position until August 2011. From August 2011 to December 2015, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Lafarge Cement China Limited. Mr Yeoh was the Chief Financial Officer of Huaxin Cement Limited, China from January 2016 to July 2017.

He then rejoined Lafarge Malaysia Berhad as the Chief Financial Officer in August 2018 and was appointed  Interim Chief Executive Officer in November 2018. Mr Yeoh Khoon Cheng was redesignated as Chief Executive Officer on 13 March 2019. Consequent to the redesignation, he stepped down from the position of Chief Financial Officer. Mr Yeoh Khoon Cheng then stepped down as Chief Executive Officer on 17 May 2019 and remained as an Executive Director.
