Working Experience
Datuk Johar was an officer at Jabatan Perdana Menteri Malaysia from 1975 to 1976. He has a vast experience of 34 years in the banking industry. His career in the banking industry began in 1976, when he joined Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank). During his service with Maybank, Datuk Johar served in various capacities which included Regional Manager of Selangor/Negeri Sembilan (1993 - 1995); General Manager, Commercial Banking Division (1996 - 2000); Senior General Manager, Corporate Banking and Enterprise Banking Division (2000 - 2002) and Senior Executive Vice President, Retail Financial Services (2002 - 2006). Datuk Johar was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Maybank Group in 2006 and held the position until his retirement in 2010. 

Datuk Johar was previously a Board Member of EDRA Global Energy Berhad, Bank Pertanian Malaysia Berhad, Amanah Raya Group, Proton Holdings Berhad and several public companies.
