Dato' Wahid is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom and a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Dato' Wahid is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of United Engineers (Malaysia) Berhad and UEM World Berhad. He is also the Executive Vice Chairman of PLUS Expressways Berhad. Dato' Wahid also holds several directorship in the UEM Group of companies.

He is also a member of Lembaga Tabung Haji's Investment Panel and the Financial Reporting Foundation of Malaysia. Dato' Wahid is also a Director of Bursa Malaysia Berhad.

Dato' Wahid was the Chief Financial Officer of Telekom Malaysia Berhad before joining the UEM Group in October 2001. He was a Director of Group Corporate Services cum Divisional Director, Capital Market & Securities of Amanah Capital Partners Berhad. He also served as the Chairman of Amanah Short Deposits Berhad and the Association of Discount Houses in Malaysia and Director of Alliance Merchant Bank Berhad and several other companies in the financial services sector.
