Dr Chew is Chief Executive Officer of Frasers Centrepoint Asset Management Ltd, the manager of Frasers Centrepoint Trust. Previously, Dr Chew was the Chief Executive of Science Centre Singapore, a government statutory board, from 1995 to 2009. He has also been an Associate Professor with the National University of Singapore, and a Research Scientist with Daimler Benz in Germany and British Gas PLC in the UK and an Adjunct Professor with the Singapore Management University.

Dr Chew is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Singapore. A former government scholar, Dr Chew holds a doctorate from University of Cambridge, an M. Eng from the National University of Singapore, and a B.Eng (1st Class Hons) from Monash University. Dr Chew has been awarded the Sugden Award by the Combustion Institute (UK) and the Public Administration Medal (Silver)(Singapore). He is also a Justice of Peace.
