Dato' Sr. Abdull Manaf started his career as Quantity Surveyor ("QS") in the Education Unit of the Quantity Surveying Branch at the Jabatan Kerja Raya ("JKR") Headquarters Malaysia upon graduation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia 1978. Two years later, he was promoted as the State QS in JKR Pulau Pinang and then transferred to JKR Terengganu. In 1995, Dato' Sr. Abdull Manaf was transferred to JKR Headquarters to head the Civil Engineering Unit of Quantity Surveying Branch. In 2001, he was seconded to Jabatan Parit dan Saliran as the Director of Quantity Surveying for 3 years. Then in 2004, he was back in Cawangan Ukur Bahan as the Deputy Director as well as the Head of Building Unit before being promoted as the Director in August 2006. In total, Dato' Sr. Abdull Manaf has served in JKR for 38 years, rising through the ranks until his last post as the Deputy Director General of JKR, Malaysia. He was the Deputy President of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia ("RISM") for the session 2011/2012 and the President of RISM for the session 2012/2013. Dato' Sr. Abdull Manaf has served as the President of the Board of Quantity Surveyors since 2007 and 4 terms subsequently including the current term for the session 2015/2017.
