Reason
During the period from 3 October 2005 to 17 October 2005, a total of 72,200 stock units in Eastern & Oriental Berhad ("E&O") were acquired from the open market by A.A. Anthony Securities Sdn Bhd ("AASB"), a 95.7%-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Pearl Sdn Bhd ("DPSB"), which in turn is a subsidiary of Multi-Purpose Holdings Berhad ("MPHB"). During the period from 3 October 2005 to 12 October 2005, a total of 24,200 stock units in E&O were disposed of in the open market by AASB. 6,386,500 stock units in E&O were acquired on 30 December 2005 and disposed of on 3 January 2006 by way of Direct Business Transactions i.e. Married Deal by AASB. MPHB is deemed to have indirect interest in the above acquisition and disposal of stock units in E&O by virtue of Section 6A(4) of the Companies Act, 1965 ("the Act") held through DPSB. Quantum Aspects Sdn Bhd ("QASB") is deemed to have indirect interest in E&O by virtue of Section 6A(4) of the Act held through MPHB. Dynamic Icon Sdn Bhd ("DISB") is deemed to have indirect interest in E&O by virtue of Section 6A(4) of the Act held through QASB. Dato' Tham Ka Hon is deemed to have indirect interest in E&O by virtue of Section 6A(4) of the Act held through his 39.8% shareholding in DISB.
