This blog shares my personal experience and encounters in KLSE.
The contents may not be applicable to everyone, it's just a form or recording and for sharing purpose.

There is this thing called ‘rookie luck’ in stock market, where a newcomer so happen to buy in a stock that rallies immediately after his/her entry.

I had this kind of experience for my first batch of trade.

SCICOM was not the only stock I bought in my first batch of trade.

I also bought SEAL back in April 2014.

Initially, I heard that invest in stock market means you should not keep monitoring your stocks daily, instead, a regular monthly to quarterly monitoring will do.

Without essential knowledge and skills, I left my portfolio as it was after I bought.

I had not monitored price movement.

I had not read any news related to them.

I had done nothing.

SCICOM was a neutral case for me, but SEAL was a surprise!

I bought 2500 units of SEAL at RM0.745 in April 2014 without knowing what the company is doing.

It then started to move around early of June 2014 and soared to RM1.44 by end of July 2014.

I still remember the very first few days when it started to move, I was having a vacation abroad.

One of my friends, who had been in KLSE way longer than me, notified me that my stock was rallying.

I logged in to my trading platform during those few days, and everyday my paper profit was increasing by 5~6%.

Can you imagine that kind of feeling?

Whereby, you are enjoying your life somewhere else, meantime you are making money.

That was a total surprise for me and it did impact my views on the potential of stock market.

After returning from my vacation, I immediately sold SEAL at RM1.01.

Yes, I missed the rest rally towards RM1.44 simply because I think a 35%+ return during 2 months’ time was a huge huge huge amount for me.

Sounds like a waste, but I can't do nothing as I was totally not equipped with knowledge, skills or whatsoever back then.

This is the story about my ‘rookie luck’.

It did affect my confidence in stock market and since then, I started to trade more actively in KLSE.

Having said this, luck is temporary as it does not help our understanding on stock market.

Without sufficient learning, such luck will only divert us from the right path.

I knew that I need to start learning back then, but I had no idea where to start with.

I continued hunting for stocks aimlessly during that time without any investing knowledge.

This caused me to ride a few time roller coaster with KLSE which I’ll share later.

Lastly, have you had your ‘rookie luck’?

How was it like?
