The glove market not going anywhere but down. Prices in 2024 remained low.
Unfavourable outlook to persist in 2024, with continued squeeze on margins
On prospects, the group acknowledges that the rubber glove market remains lacklustre with an unfavorable outlook for 2024 due to ongoing demand-supply dynamics post-pandemic.
"At the two most recent large international trade shows, the takeaway was that the oversupply situation is expected to moderate gradually over an extended period as more and more smaller players exit the market, while bigger players scale back expansion and retire older factories and production lines.
"The industry is basically going through a consolidation stage at this time," the group said.
Moreover, the group notes that ASPs remain suppressed, with manufacturers from China proving to be daunting competitors and believed to have taken over the global leadership from Malaysia, at least in terms of pricing.
Supermax does not expect to see a significant improvement in performance for the rest of the year 2024 due to the high volume of high-priced stocks at its overseas distribution centers.

Supermax’s CEO must also be made to be responsible on how its shares are performing on the exchange. He needs a good PR officer to help him sell to investors the company’s prospects. But first he needs to sack the person who, through the bad design & maintenance of its website makes it look like a 3rd class company with no hope. How I wish some big time investors can apply pressure on him to change things for the better!

While other industries recovering at full speed after the pandemic, the glove industry is in a doldrum. Until the next health crisis, the industry will remain stagnant at the foot of KLSE. The Edge looks at Supermax expansion to the States & does not think it will work out. A disaster in the making.

Reasons to Invest in American Manufacturing
ax Incentives
1.Tax incentives are a major contributor to the strength of American manufacturing. The government offers tax rebates and exemptions for companies that manufacture in the states. To take advantage of this incentive though, you either have to be a company that commissions an onshore manufacturer or be an onshore manufacturer acquiring materials.
Logistical Incentives
2.Logistical incentives for domestic manufacturing can also make a significant impact on a business’s bottom line. The US has an interconnected transport system of train, road, air, and sea travel options that make it easy to ship products anywhere. This includes shipping products around the world since the US is boarded on two sides by oceans, and the coasts are filled with ports that make sea access easier and cost-effective. For your company, this means lower costs when shipping manufactured products wherever they need to go
3. A Reputation for Innovation and Quality
The main reason why companies choose to invest in American manufacturing is because of our reputation for innovation and quality across many industries. The US is known for designing products to high-quality standards, while offshore manufacturing has a reputation for using cheap and low-quality materials.
4. Access to a Skilled Workforce
The quality in US manufacturing comes from investments in technology, development, and a quality workforce. The US has a universal education system that puts it ahead of many other manufacturing centers around the world. A higher educated and tech-savvy workforce makes it easier for manufacturing companies to recruit better talent. More talented workers mean improved manufacturing processes and outcomes.
5. Compliance With Environmental Regulations
Finally, the US is largely committed to environmental protection when it comes to manufacturing. Government regulations for pollution and environmental impact are stricter here in the US than in most places overseas.
The drive for greater sustainability is not only important to the longevity of your business but is also increasingly important to customers

Whatever the reason to build a glove plant in America, the end product must be cheaper than in China & Malaysia. A glove plant is not a high-tech value-added industry where the margin is super high. The reason most industries seeking low cost goes to emerging economies & China.

US' operation will deplete the reserved cash very soon. The expansion is not as brigthful as most of you think.

Very optimistic... in fact my thinking is since we see the first electrification photo on yesterday you sent... i think installation of equipment could be only be starting now... installation and commisioning and test run, i think easily 6 months... perhaps 2 more quarters... then after test run if successful, need to submit samples to FDA for certification. my 2 cents...

@myinvestor. Thanks for the info. I'm guessing the gloves they make in Texas must have higher asp because the labor costs are high there

Offset by shorter lead times, lower shipping cost, high quality products, high tax relief (saving 200m/year), Environmental compliance, No forced labor risk and no red sea crisis.

US tariffs exclusion on Gloves imports from china will end on May 31st. I doubt they will extend this exclusion and impose back the25% tariffs. With trump in the presidency race, Biden will act tougher with China.
With US inflation under control and imports alternatives which will/can be well absorb and not pass down to consumers, high change on the import tariffs (especially covid19 category) to be reinstated. Let's wait for the news

“Supermax’s American and Malaysian teams have been working very hard to manage the setting-up of the US operations and we are pleased to announce that construction of our first manufacturing facility will be substantially completed before the end of December 2023. The next stage will involve the installation of various manufacturing equipment including A.I., Automation and Robotics facilities. A technical team from Supermax Malaysia will be deployed to the US facility in various stages for commissioning of the manufacturing facility.
Recruitment drive start in middle of Year 2024.
