KUALA LUMPUR (June 9): Tan Sri Shamsul Azhar Abbas has been appointed as an independent director of Deleum Bhd, effective June 9.

He was the former Petronas president & CEO from 2010 to 2015. Currently, he also holds directorship in Enra Group Bhd, according to Deleum’s filing with Bursa Malaysia on Thursday (June 9).

“During the tenure of his leadership, he guided Petronas in undertaking strategic landmark projects such as the Pengerang Integrated Refinery and Petrochemical Project (RAPID), the Bintulu Train 9 project, the construction of two Petronas floating liquified natural gas facilities and Malaysia's first regasification terminal in Malacca,” the filing noted.

Shares in Deleum finished half sen or 0.76% lower at 65 sen on Thursday, giving it a market value of RM261.01 million. Year to date, the stock has soared by 30%.
