KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 25): Tenaga Nasional Bhd's (TNB) foreign shareholding has inched up to 12.59% as at end-September after falling to a 13-year low of 11.28% in August, according to the national utility's foreign shareholding release.
The rise in foreign shareholding at end-September follows several dips, with August being the lowest followed by April at 11.95%.
In the two months prior, TNB's foreign shareholding was 12.12% in June and 12.25% in July.
Based on its published foreign shareholding, August 2022 was the lowest over a 13-year period (2009-2022).
According to TNB’s 2020 annual report, North American shareholders accounted for 41.3% of its foreign shareholding followed by Asia (38.6%) and Europe (20%). In 2021, North American shareholding increased to 50.5% while Asian shareholding fell to 35.4%, and Europe to 14%.
At the time of writing, TNB’s share price was down three sen or 0.36% to RM8.30, which translates to a market capitalisation of RM47.75 billion.
