KUALA LUMPUR (July 10): ManagePay Systems Bhd (MPay) said its wholly-owned unit has been appointed as an open payment system provider at selected toll lanes for the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH) and Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE).

ManagePay Services Sdn Bhd's (MPSB) appointment was made by Turnpike Synergy Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of highway concessionaire Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas), which is in turn owned by Permodalan Nasional Bhd.

Besides AKLEH and GCE, Prolintas is also the concessionaire for four other highways — Lebuhraya Kemuning Shah Alam (LKSA), Kajang SILK Highway (SILK), the Sungai Besi Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) and Damansara Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MPay said that under the deal with Turnpike, MPSB is to supply an end-to-end open payment solution that can be integrated with the existing toll collection system at the toll plazas, from lane level to plaza level and to the headquarters level up to the Malaysian Highway Authority level.

The scope of work also includes testing and commissioning, leasing of the system during the leasing period and provision for maintenance support.

“The system shall be completed within a period of 12 weeks and the subsequent leasing period of 24 months with an option to extend the leasing period for a subsequent 36 months by Turnpike,” said MPay.

MPay's share price closed half a sen or 3.85% higher at 13.5 sen on Monday (July 10), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM116.28 million.
