Facebook has kept us waiting for this one a long time: Deleting your own posts has never been simple with Facebook, but the company has now unveiled a new function that will make this a matter of a few simple clicks.

Using the newly announced "Manage Activities" function, you will be able to archive posts so that only you can see them. You can also move posts to a "trash" folder, where they'll remain for 30 days before being deleted.

Older posts can also be filtered by specific people or period of time, allowing you to essentially delete a whole category of post, according to Facebook's news blog post.

In adding this function, the social media giant is addressing a problem that many users have been dealing with: Over the years, you accumulate various posts and might not want earlier ones, for example with an old partner, to be seen by others.

Until now, you had to delete these posts one by one, but the filter function makes it easier to remove them collectively. The function is initially only available on mobile devices.
