At the opening of its annual developers conference - which is being held completely online - Apple announced that Maps is getting a new feature to reduce EV owners range anxiety: EV routing.

Instead of worrying whether or not they'll be able to find a charging station on a trip, Apple Maps will display where EV owners will be able to power up along the way. Users will be able to enter their car into the application to ensure that they'll be notified only of EV stations that are compatible with their model.

Furthermore, the app will actually track the charge of the vehicle and will factor in charging breaks where necessary.

Complementing EV routing in the iOS 14 iteration of app, Maps will also steer drivers away from areas highly congested with traffic.

While Apple did not say exactly when iOS 14 - and therefore these new Maps features - will roll out, the company did confirm that it will reach customers this fall.
