i dont think they can get much if the share price keep on falling. The company can buy back the shares from the shareholders, but it will be based on the last traded price. But will it still have money to do that?
This is also one of the reasons why par value regime was removed. Otherwise, the shareholders able to exchange back the money based on the par value of the shares.
To the company secretaries out there, correct me if i am wrong.

Money will pay to debtors first, then bond holders, employees. Shareholders will be the last one.

There is no such thing the company will buy back the shares from shareholders. It is not the major shareholder or someone want to privatise the company. But due to they are facing difficulties to operate the business.
