PARIS, Sept. 21 -- French company Candia has recalled one of its baby milk products in the country, due to sealing defects in the bottles that could pose a danger to health, the website Rappel Conso said on Wednesday.

According to Rappel Conso, which is managed by the French ministries of agriculture, economy and ecological transition, consumers have reported a sealing defect in the lid of certain bottles of Candia Baby Junior 4. The milk is for babies aged 20-36 months.

The 250-milliliter bottles have been sold in supermarkets in packs of 24 since July 22.

"These products have been manufactured and/or stored under conditions that do not ensure satisfying health guarantees," Candia said, adding that these "products are therefore likely to present a danger to the health of consumers."

The product should not be consumed, the company said, and those who have already bought it can be reimbursed if they return it to the place of purchase.

In June, French authorities opened an investigation following complaints of salmonella poisoning in children who had consumed Kinder chocolates produced by Italian confectionery giant Ferrero. Another investigation was launched due to a series of Escherichia coli (E.coli) poisoning cases in children, linked to a batch of pizzas produced by Buitoni.
