NEW YORK, Nov. 20 -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.45 percent to 106.681 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0539 U.S. dollars from 1.0594 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.2647 U.S. dollars from 1.2676 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.37 Japanese yen, higher than 154.70 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8844 Swiss francs from 0.8828 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3984 Canadian dollars from 1.3966 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 11.0327 Swedish kronor from 10.9184 Swedish kronor.
