KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court in his capacity as director of the group, which has been alleged to have furnished a false statement to Bursa Malaysia.

According to the charge sheet sighted by theedgemarkets.com, Serba Dinamik is said to have committed an offence under Section 369(a)(B) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (CMSA) when it, with the intent to deceive, furnished a false statement to the regulator in relation to the affairs of the group.

It said the false statement is contained in Serba Dinamik’s quarterly report for the quarter and year ended Dec 31, 2020.

As Abdul Karim was a director of the group, he is deemed to have committed an offence under Section 369(a)(B) of the CMSA, and punishable under Section 369 of the Act.

If found guilty, he is liable to an imprisonment term not exceeding 10 years and a fine not exceeding RM3 million.

On Tuesday (Dec 28), the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) had charged Serba Dinamik, along with its executive director Datuk Syed Nazim Syed Faisal, group chief financial officer Azhan Azmi, and vice-president of accounts and finance Muhammad Hafiz Othman.

Abdul Karim was also supposed to be charged on the same day, but he could not be located, which led to the regulator securing a warrant of arrest against him.

The SC said the false statement submitted to Bursa was in relation to a revenue figure of RM6.014 billion contained in the quarterly report.
