ALOR SETAR: Stern action will be taken against the organisers of the 2022 Kedah Fashion Week 2022 (KFW22) for allegedly featuring a scantily-clad model.

In several photos that have gone viral on social media, the model had on a green blazer with its buttons open, and what looked like no undergarment inside.

State Health and Local Government committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman said the authorities would also summon the event organiser for an explanation behind the fashion faux pas.

"We received complaints about the event for featuring a scantily-clad model. We will summon the organiser and demand an explanation," he said in a Facebook post last night.  

He said based on checks, the organiser did not obtain the permit to hold such an event, which required approval from the local authorities.

The photos were allegedly taken during the event held at a shopping mall in Alor Setar from Aug 5 to Aug 7.

On Aug 4, Dr Mohd Hayati had advised the organisers to obtain the relevant approval and adhere to rules and requirements set by the Kota Setar district office.

He explained that the event was not under the jurisdiction of the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) and that the district office was responsible for approvals and licensing.

He said the role of MBAS was to ensure that the organisers adhered to the rules.
