PETALING JAYA: Two days after being sacked by Umno, Khairy Jamaluddin has continued to voice his dissatisfaction against the dismissal and suspension of other leaders.

In an Instagram story on Sunday (Jan 29), Khairy said Shahril Hamdan, who was slapped with a six-year suspension from the party, should have been the next Umno Youth chief.

"This guy should have been the next Umno Youth chief.

"But, he was suspended without due process - for nothing," Khairy said in a selfie with Shahril.

Khairy also reposted an Instagram story by Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who said the former health minister could be the future CEO of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club, and also the Johor Youth advisor.

"One door closes, others will open," Khairy said.

On Friday (Jan 27), the Umno supreme council sacked Khairy and Tan Sri Noh Omar.

Among the members suspended for six years were Shahril, Sembrong Umno chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, former Youth exco member Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, former Johor state exco member Datuk Maulizan Bujang and former Jempol MP Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Shariff.

Shahril and Khairy had said the sacking and suspension did not follow due process.

Action was taken against the Umno leaders because they were deemed to have criticised the party president and worked with opposition parties in the last general election.

Umno information chief Isham Jalil had said on Sunday that the sacking and suspension of leaders was done with due process.

Citing the Umno party constitution, Isham said the party’s supreme council can decide the sacking or suspension of its members.

Isham also said those who were sacked and suspended can appeal before the disciplinary board.
