KOTA KINABALU: No decision has been made yet on the Umno dissidents who had thrown their support for Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor instead of their own leader in the recent attempted political coup.

Umno Tanjung Keramat assemblyman and Putatan member of parliament Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, who is among them, said they will wait for the decision.

"As stated by Umno president (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi), the disciplinary board will be meeting and (the result) will be forwarded to the supreme council members.

"Unofficially, I was made to understand that Sabah Umno wanted action taken against the five. It is the wish of state Umno leadership and it will be brought to the disciplinary board to be evaluated.

"But, we keep calm and just wait for the result. We will follow the rules and whatever the decision, we will accept," said the state Deputy Chief Minister-cum-state Public Works Minister after the launch of a road safety programme at Dumpil bay near here.

Last month, Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin had triggered the 'Kinabalu Move' by pulling out support for Hajiji's administration.

However, he failed in the coup attempt as he could not command a majority when Hajiji, with additional support from the five Umno assemblymen and seven from Pakatan Harapan.

The other four dissidents are Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob (Sindumin), Datuk Jasnih Daya (Pantai Dalit), Datuk Arshad Bistari (Tempasuk) and Datuk James Ratib (Sugut).

However, Sabah Umno had clarified that Yusof has yet to be accepted as member in the party.

As for the programme, Shahelmey said last month, there were 1,634 road accidents with 20 casualties.

On another matter related to projects under RM50 million, he said a workshop will be conducted before relevant agencies under his Works Ministry could proceed further.
