PETALING JAYA: Sacked former Umno supreme council member Tan Sri Noh Omar is open to campaign for Bersatu, PAS or even Umno if invited to do so in the coming state elections.

"I am resting now but for certain, I will be an independent speaker.

"(If) Bersatu invites me to give a ceramah during the state elections, I will give ceramah.

"If PAS wants to invite me, I will come," he said in a Facebook post Sunday (Feb 5).

Although spurned by his party, Noh also said he was still willing to give ceramahs for Umno if invited.

"If Umno is willing to invite (me)...no problem," he also said in his post.

Despite being sore at his initial suspension and sacking, the former Umno veteran said that he still loves the party even though he is no longer a member.

The six states that will be holding elections this year are Perikatan Nasional-held Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, and Pakatan Harapan’s Selangor, Penang and Negri Sembilan.

The Kelantan assembly’s five-year term will expire on June 9, Terengganu on Sept 1 and Kedah on Sept 4.

Penang’s term will end on Aug 2, followed by Selangor on Aug 26 and Negri Sembilan on Sept 2.

On Jan 27, Noh, the former Selangor Umno chief, was sacked for undermining the party during the 15th General Election.

Noh had initially been suspended for six years but had asked to be sacked instead during the party’s supreme council meeting.

Both he and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin were among those purged from the party.

Among the members suspended by Umno for six years were former senior minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, former party information chief Shahril Hamdan, Hisham, former youth exco member Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, former Johor state exco member Datuk Maulizan Bujang and former Jempol MP Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Shariff.

Action was taken against these Umno leaders because they were deemed to have criticised the party president and worked with Opposition parties in the last general election.

They were among 30 Umno leaders and members who had been punished for their actions against the party.
