THE appointment of Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as UMNO president has been deemed as Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s long-awaited dream and opportunity to destroy UMNO which is regarded as both a political bastion and heritage to the Malays.

With the deputy PM acting as a “behind-the-scene” proxy, Anwar is on the verge of realising his strategy of “eliminating the great ark of Malay political struggle in this country”, according to PAS’ Undergraduate Supporters’ Club president Kamil Arif Baihagi.

“This was proven when Zahid’s internal scheming deliberately got rid of important figures in UMNO, thus paving the way for UMNO to put candidates who could only ‘lose’ in the 15th General Election (G15) in order to legitimise his close rapport with Anwar,” penned Kamil in a social media post that appears on the PAS’ Facebook page.

“Such is Zahid, the president who will go down in Malaysian history books as the president with the worst political performance in the history of UMNO.”

In the wake of the upcoming state polls in Selangor, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, Kamil expects Zahid to carry out “more devastating political moves on Anwar’s behalf”.

“Today, millions of UMNO members, especially those in rural areas are disappointed by Zahid. They lost the direction and self-identity of their struggle,” he observed. “There is no argument that can be expressed in order to defend UMNO which is only able to survive on the political ‘intercession’ of allocated money.”

This, according to Kamil, will bring back memories of the Malayan Union protests when the Malays took to the streets and paved way for the eventual establishment of UMNO.

“Similar protest wave will surely erupt again. The warrior’s blood that flows in every Malay will not stand idly by watching the nation’s struggle being destroyed by a president who has no self-respect,” chided Kamil who is currently a civil engineering student in Universiti Putra Malaysia (as per his LinkedIn page).

“Silent protest will be the most powerful weapon for those who are determined to fight the flaws in UMNO. While Perikatan Nasional (PN) is not perfect, it will be the best choice for them (UMNO members) to cling to in order to teach Zahid the most meaningful lesson in his life.”

Added Kamil: “Zahid will lose. Money alone will not win. The fire of struggle will be more intense after this.” - May 30, 2023
