ANY vehicle entering Malaysia that is caught cutting the queue while heading to the customs and immigration complex will be ordered to make a U-turn and head back to Singapore, warned Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

“I was made to understand that vehicles that were caught cutting the queue will be denied entry into Malaysia and instructed to return to Singapore,” the Machap assemblyman said on his Facebook today (Jun 2).

In his social media posting, the former Johor Exco also thanked the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for controlling traffic at the Sultan Abu Bakar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex at the Second Link in Gelang Patah.

Onn Hafiz’s stern warning won the hearts of netizens expressed their gratitude to him for paying attention to the difficulties faced by drivers when navigating the two land-based links between Malaysia and Singapore.

Facebook user Mohamed Fadzil said that this is the right way to get things done while also suggesting the same thing be done for buses.

“Those who make noise should be asked to turn back as well. The ticket counters are chaotic. Next time they will think twice (before causing a ruckus),” he said.

Facebook user Saidah Jubri similarly congratulated Onn Hafiz while concurring that stricter rules must be enforced to teach foreigners to respect Malaysia’s rules.

Mohd Armin Azam noted that Onn Hafiz needs to be stricter as some Singaporeans lack in civic consciousness and tend to break the law whenever they enter Malaysia.

Giving his two cents, Abdullah Jerry Boatman expressed hopes that Onn Hafiz would instruct the police to be stricter in terms of enforcing the rules and regulations.

“Many people cut queues but not all the way to the front as they know that there is police presence in the front,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, CL Wong suggested that queue-cutting offender to be slapped with certain penalties such as a 6-month ban for foreigners who want to come into Malaysia, or a 6-month ban for Malaysians who want to go to Singapore.

“If no action is taken, people will cut queues on a daily basis,” the netizen asserted.

On Twitter, user @davidwong27 lamented that the congestion issue at the Johor-Singapore Causeway has remained a nightmare for thousands of motorists on a daily basis.

The user also suggested that the daily control flow or lanes must be improved as well. - June 2, 2023
