KUALA LUMPUR: Sersol Bhd yesterday clarified that Datuk Justin Lim Hwa Tat, a person of interest in an investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), is the current chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, and that he has been away overseas since February 2023.

Sersol's announcement was in response to media reports on MACC's request for information on Lim's whereabouts.

SMTrack Bhd in its filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities yesterday on Lim, who is its executive director, stated that he was Sersol CEO until June 15, 2023.

According to the company, Lim has been away overseas since February 2023 for "purpose and reason only known to him".

The company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities that the MACC has reached out to Sersol and the company was made to understand that the MACC is investigating certain payments made by the company to a third party, which were approved and instructed by Lim.

"The majority of the board of the company has not received any update from him thus far," Sersol said in the filing which came in late yesterday evening.

Sersol's share price closed unchanged at 11 sen yesterday.
