Education Ministry implementing initiatives to reform national education agenda

KUALA LUMPUR:  The Education Ministry is actively implementing various important initiatives for reforming the national education.

In a statement today, the ministry said these initiatives include restructuring and reforming the preschool system, the 2027 School Curriculum as well as curriculum intervention to deal with student dropout.

"Preschool classes will be expanded in all educational institutions under the ministry.

"The expansion of preschool classes ensures that the issue of student dropout can be addressed from an early stage.

"Focus is also given to the development of teacher professionalism. Various programmes are offered to improve teacher competence and professionalism.

"Recently, the ministry introduced the Learning Management System (SiPP) platform to address the needs of teachers' digital competence."

The ministry also said it has taken note of a World Bank report  titled 'Bending Bamboo Shoots: Strengthening Foundation Skills' regarding the national education system.

The main points of the report, which touched on quality and access to preschool education, student competence as well the development of teacher professionalism are among the areas under the ministry's attention.

"The ministry is committed to ensuring the successful reform of education in the country. It is an ongoing effort that requires commitment, cooperation and support from all parties." read the statement.
