IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad today tabled the State Budget 2024 totalling RM1.35 billion, the highest budget ever tabled.

'Prosperous Perak, Prosperous People' continues to be the theme for the next year.

The Kota Tampan assemblyman said the budget allocated RM491 million for development expenditure and RM856 million for operating expenditure.

"The budget underlined five focus areas, namely people's well-being, governance of state-owned projects, human capital and youth development, environmental sustainability and food security.

"These five complementary focuses lead to the continuous efforts of the state government to achieve the three main targets of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan, namely economic prosperity, social prosperity and political prosperity," he said when tabling the Budget at the State Assembly Sitting at the Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, today.

Saarani said spending for development in 2024 was increased by a large amount of RM96 million compared to the 2023 Budget, to meet the needs of development and welfare for the people, supported by the strong financial position of the state government.

"From the revenue and expenditure projections, it is estimated that the state's financial statement for the year ending Dec 31, 2024, will be closed with a deficit of RM67.5 million," he said.

Saarani said what was more special, is the design of the Perak Budget 2024 this time received a creative touch by the Royal Artist and Perak-born, Datuk Mohammad Nor Mohd Khalid, better known as Lat.

"This initiative is to appreciate his service and dedication in his work to receive various awards and recognition from both inside and outside the country.

"This effort is also expected to raise the profile of the creative arts industry in the state, especially through the recognition of the talents and contributions of local children," he said.
