KUALA LUMPUR: Plans to create a Batik Special Collection Series to bring in more foreign tourists are in the works, says the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, announced that he hoped the fashion series would be the next key step in strengthening ties between the tourism industries of both countries.

“This series will primarily be promoted to China’s tourism market as part of our efforts to attract more Chinese tourists next year.

“In exchange, we will allow China to market its own special collection series of products to Malaysia to encourage more Malaysians to visit China,” he said during a walkabout of the the roughly 100 vendor booths at the Malaysia Batik Day 2023 celebration event on Sunday (Dec 3).
