KUALA LUMPUR: Registration for the pilot progressive wage policy project to address stagnating wages will open next month, says Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.

He said this during his address at the launch of the 29th Malaysia Economic Monitor: Bending Bamboo Shoots: Strengthening Foundation Skill today.

The voluntary pilot project targets 1,000 companies, with a focus on micro small and medium enterprises.

The project will focus on employees earning salaries between RM1,500 and RM4,999.

"The progressive wage policy white paper was tabled and passed in parliament last November."We will already be opening registration next month for the pilot project which will be a case study for wider adoption across the country, as we debottleneck our stagnating wages," he said.

A total of RM50 million has been allocated for the rollout of the Progressive Wage Policy pilot project, including incentive payments to companies participating in the Progressive Salary Policy.
