PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad Declares First Interim Single Tier Dividend for Fiscal Year Ending 31 December 2023, Payable on 21 September 2023

PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad has declared a First Interim Single Tier Dividend for fiscal year ending 31 December 2023 of 8 sen per ordinary share. Ex-Date is 07 September 2023. Payment Date is 21 September 2023. Entitlement date is 08 September 2023.

When a company pays out a dividend, it signals that the company is profitable and has enough cash to distribute to its shareholders. However, the stock price usually drops by the amount of the dividend after the ex-dividend date. This is because new shareholders are not entitled to that payment.

Last year PCHEM as given us a Yield of 5.85% which is better than ASB. PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad is a dividend paying company with a current yield of 5.85% that is well covered by earnings. PCHEM's dividend (5.85%) is in the top 25% of dividend payers in the MY market (5.17%). This also means PCHEM's dividend payments are covered by its cash flows.

EPF is buying without it the price will drop. EPS of 8 cents and dividend of 8 cents is a poor quarter result.

Most likely 2H another 8 cents dividend so with Mabel' dividend Yield of 5.85% the fair price of Pchem is 0.16/0.0585= RM 2.735

2Q23: Equally challenging

Despite some bright spots in the O&D segment (reduction in PIC start-up losses, improved production volumes), PCHEM had another sequentially difficult quarter, underpinned by unplanned F&M shutdowns and poor specialties performance. We revise our FY23/24E estimates lower by 18-24%, but believe the worst is likely over for PCHEM. Our TP is raised to MYR7.00 (+2%) and now pegged to 8x FY24E EV/EBITDA, at -0.5SD to PCHEMs LT Mean (from 6x FY24E EV/EBITDA, at -1SD to Mean previously).

Warren Buffett has excelled in choosing businesses that have been able to stand the test of time through many economic cycles and raise their dividends to shareholders. Dividends may not be the Oracle of Omaha’s secret sauce, but they're a significant ingredient that keeps chugging cash into Berkshire’s account.

"Growth occurred every year, just as certain as birthdays. All Charlie [Munger] and I were required to do was cash Coke’s quarterly dividend checks" – Warren Buffett’s 2022 Annual Shareholder Letter

During his wealth-growth phase, Mr. Buffett sought after companies leading in their respective industry and those facing some trouble that he believed could be solved over time. He famously mentioned that the best time to buy a business is when it is on the operating table.

This is exactly what Mabel is doing, investing in companies leading in their respective industry (80%) and those facing some trouble that he believed could be solved over time (20%).

Haha someone mention about Serba. Mabel came in when Serba was still a Blue Chip. There are currently 3 types of Investors in Serba:

1. Bonus Issues Investors
2. Pre July21 Suspension Investors
3. Post July21 Suspension Investors

The one that benefits the most is Category 1 who was awarded Bonus Issues, Dividends and took price action during Dec 2020 rally. 2nd is Category 3 who took massive price action during July 2021 rally, Nov and Dec 2022 Pull Back. The Biggest loser are in Category 2 who freeze like Old Monks when they are supposed to take massive Price Action when it matters...

As usual, there is a lot to unpack from Malaysia’s Budget 2024 measures. Everyone’s attention was turned to the increase in the Sales and Services Tax from 6% to 8%. However, there are 3 announcements that will benefit Mabel Malaysia. Here are the Top 3 Beneficiary of Mabel Malaysia from the latest Budget 2024 measures:

*#1 Petronas Chemicals Group*

Good news for Petronas, more specifically for its Pengerang project in Johor. The government has proposed that the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC) area be turned into a development hub for the chemical and petrochemical sectors.

It plans to do so by introducing a tax incentive package in the form of a special tax rate or investment tax allowance. Hence, Petronas Chemicals Group (PCG) could stand to benefit from this being an integrated petrochemicals producer, while Petronas (the parent company) was the organisation behind the PIPC project.

Amid a decline in crude oil prices this year, PCG’s revenue has also declined by 6.8% to RM$14.7 billion in 1H 2023 from RM$15.8 billion in 2H 2022. Profits also followed suit with a decline of 51.2% to RM$1.2 billion from RM$2.4 billion over the same period.

In terms of valuation, PCG is trading at a PER of 16.7 times compared to the industry’s average of 30.6 times. Meanwhile, market analysts have PCG at an UNDERWEIGHT investment call, but this could soon change with the latest Budget 2024 measure announcements. It currently gives a dividend yield of 5.6%.

Mabel has locked her 1st Profits for PCHEM last Friday when the Golden Cross happened to fund her donation. Somehow rather find its way back to Mabel as the shares keep climbing steadily this week. It’s now trading above 20, 50, 100 and 200 Moving Averages. MACD signal is very bullish..

Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd said it will construct Asia's largest advanced chemical recycling plant in Pengerang, Johor, with a capacity of 33 kilotons per annum (ktpa). The plant is targeted to be operational by the first half of 2026..

Can someone tell me why the intangible asset of PChem increased tremendously in the last year's auditors report as compared with 2021 accounts. ? Will this affect the profit and loss account and balance sheet ? OR is this an accounting tactic to increase the value of the Company ?

Chemical market overcapacity and weakening demand: a perfect storm
Following several years of significant investment in production capacity in China, a perfect storm is hitting the chemicals market, as increased global capacity meets weakening demand. The global oversupply of petrochemicals is expected to hit a record 218m tonnes in 20231 and China is continuing to add capacity, with almost 140m tonnes expected to come onstream in 2023, well in excess of previous years.

Against the backdrop of a worsening macroeconomic outlook and a strong US dollar, chemical market participants are having to contend with an unprecedented level of uncertainty within the industry.
