HULU SELANGOR: The ongoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into the son of Perlis Mentri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli will not affect the Kuala Kubu Bharu by-election, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said that Mohd Shukri's summoning by the MACC on Tuesday (April 30) to have his statement recorded would continue unabated.

 "At this moment, we have been informed of an investigation taking place.

It would be unfair to punish any individual with slanderous allegations," said the Selangor Perikatan Nasional chief at a public address in Kuala Kubu Baharu on Tuesday night.

Azmin then said that Shukri was merely summoned to provide his account and that he is responsibly cooperating with the investigative authorities.

"We can observe the attitude of the senior leadership in Perikatan when his son was also called to assist; he has proven and officially executed his duty as a father to guide his son and family," he added.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki had indicated that the anti-graft body is investigating not only Shukri's son but also Shukri for alleged abuse of power

Last week, the MACC remanded Shukri's son and five other individuals to assist in an investigation related to the production of false documents to claim RM600,000 in 2022.

The group included two civil servants, one from the Chief Minister's Office and one from the state secretary's office, as well as three company contractors. Shukri Ramli was released on bail by the MACC at 7:30 pm.
