Johor govt condemns deadly Ulu Tiram attack during state assembly

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor government has strongly condemned any form of extremist violence including the attack on Ulu Tiram police station, which left two policemen dead and one injured.

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the Friday (May 17) attack sent shockwaves throughout the state.

“The state government strongly condemns any form of extremist violence. My administration will always stand together with the police in their effort to fight extremism.

“The government will also be working closely with all security agencies to make sure that such an incident does not see a repeat,” he added.

Onn Hafiz said this before starting his winding up speech during the state assembly meeting held at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar here on Sunday (May 19).

He also expressed his condolences to the families of Konstable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and Konstable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said and wished Kpl Mohd Hasif Roslan a speedy recovery.

Onn Hafiz also led members in the august house to recite Al Fatihah and a minute of silence as a mark of respect to the two slain policemen.
