SUNGAI BULOH: The final report on the helicopter collision at the naval base in Lumut, Perak is expected to be released next week, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

“Not long more. The latest should be next week. We are currently finalising the report,” the Defence Minister told reporters after attending a ceremony to hand out Malaysian Skills Diploma and transitional training programmes to both active and retired servicemen here on Tuesday (May 28).

Previously, it was reported that the final report on the collision was expected to be furnished on May 29.

On April 23, 10 crew members were killed when two helicopters collided during training at the naval base in Lumut, Perak.

Preliminary investigations found that both the naval helicopters involved in the crash were airworthy during the incident.

The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) said maintenance on both helicopters followed procedures and routines set by the original equipment manufacturer.

The Navy had said the preliminary report also showed that all crewmen were in good health to handle the aircraft and were capable of doing so based on their qualifications.
