PETALING JAYA: Bersatu has refuted issuing several statements that purportedly claimed that the party and Perikatan Nasional have apologised to the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

In a Facebook post, Bersatu attached the two press statements in question while labelling them as false.

According to one of the fake Bersatu statements, it claimed that Bersatu apologised to the Sultan of Pahang over Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s speech during the Nenggiri by-election which recently concluded.

“Avoid spreading fake news. If you are unsure, don’t share,” said Bersatu on Monday (Aug 19).

Recently, a viral video depicted Muhyiddin during a ceramah at Felda Perasu on Aug 15 as seemingly questioning the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister after the 15th general election.

The video has since drawn severe condemnation from various parties and at least 29 police reports have been lodged against Muhyiddin, who is scheduled to give his statement to the police on Tuesday (Aug 20).

Muhyiddin has since defended his controversial remarks, saying it was just a statement of facts and he has no intentions of insulting the royal institution of Malay Rulers.

The former prime minister had said he would fully cooperate with the police in its probe
