PUTRAJAYA: The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has reminded the public to be cautious when encountering suspicious email, links, or phone calls related to tax matters and government aid programmes.

Its advisory comes in light of the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which has been increasingly exploited by scammers,

These fraudsters have associated LHDN with their schemes, leading to confusion and unsuspecting people falling victim, it said.

"These scam syndicates are leveraging the latest technology to deceive victims through various tactics.

"Despite numerous arrests by the authorities and widespread media coverage, the number of scam cases continues to rise each year,” LHDN said in a statement on Friday (Aug 30).

It advised the public not to share personal information on suspicious websites, links, or phone calls to prevent misuse by unscrupulous individuals.

LHDN also urged the public to report any information related to scam activities to the authorities so that swift action can be taken. – Bernama
