DIGI Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, of which mobile Internet contributes more than one-fourth to its third-quarter service revenue, aims to be the leader among the country’s mobile Internet providers.

The company is currently the fastest growing telecommunication company, based on key percentage points and revenue market share.

“Three or four years ago, we were significantly behind Maxis on 3G coverage. Today, we have 84 per cent 3G coverage on a 2.1 spectrum, which provides high-speed Internet,” DiGi chief marketing officer Christian Thrane said, here, yesterday.

DiGi also has a 10-year ongoing network collaboration initiative with Celcom, announced in early 2011, as part of their efforts to roll out more than 10,000km of fibre network nationwide.

With 11.3 million customers, DiGi is the third-largest mobile operator in Malaysia with a revenue market share of 29 per cent.

The telco’s service revenue stood at RM1.58 million in the third quarter, with mobile Internet alone contributing 28 per cent.

The number of customers utilising its online store grew 270 per cent year-on-year.

DiGi also provides in-store experiences for customers following its partnerships with Apple and Android.

“We have our Geek Bar services ready, where customers can learn how to use Apple and Android products.

“We will expand to 13 Geek Bars nationwide by the end of next month,” said Thrane.
