Working Experience
Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Lin See Yan is an independent strategic and financial Consultant. Prior to 1998, he was Chairman/President and CEO of Pacific Bank Group and for 14 years previously, Deputy Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia), having been a central banker for 34 years. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Lin continues to serve the public interest, including Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Council Working Group; Member of the KSN’s National Innovation Action Committee; Member of the KSN’s Special Task Force on Port Klang Free Zone; Member of MHE Committees; Member of the International Advisory Board, International Journal of Management Studies, UUM; Member of the Institute of Tun Dr Mahathir’s Thoughts, UUM; Member of the KSN's Task Force on the Establishment of the Razak School of Government; Member of the Advisory Board of the Malaysian-Japan University Centre; Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia; and Member of the Court of Fellows, Malaysian Institute of Management.

In addition, he advises and sits on the Boards (including Executive/Audit Committees) of a number of publicly listed and private business enterprises in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA and Indonesia; engaged in plantations, food and beverages, education, earth science, chemicals and petroleum products, housing and property development, banking and insurance, e-commerce, venture capital and fund management. He is a Governor for the Asian Institute of Management, Manila; Senior Advisor for the Association of Harvard University Alumni Clubs of Asia; Member of the Harvard University Graduate School Alumni Council in Cambridge (USA); Member of the Asian Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee as well as a Regional Director for the Asia, Harvard Alumni Association, Harvard University. He is also Professor of the Economics (Adjunct), Universiti Utara Malaysia, and Professor of the Business & International Finance (Adjunct), University Malaysia Sabah. Besides, he is a Mentor Counsellor for LIN foundation; Economic Advisor for the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia; President of the Harvard Club of Malaysia. In addition, he is a Trustee of the Tun Ismail Ali Foundation (PNB); Harvard Club of Malaysia Foundation; Malaysian Economic Association Foundation; Prime Minister’s Exchange Fellowship Program Malaysia; and Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.

Professionally qualified in UK as a chartered statistician and a Chartered Scientist, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Lin is also a banker, economist and venture capitalist. He received 3 post-graduate degrees from Harvard University (including a Ph.D. in Economics) where he was a Mason Fellow and Ford Scholar, and where he continues to maintain close links. He is an Eisenhower Fellow and Fellow of the following professional organizations like the IMF Institute (Washington D.C.); Royal Statistical Society (London); Malaysian Institute of Bankers; Malaysian Insurance Institute; Malaysian Institute of Management; and Malaysian Economic Association. He is also Distinguished Fellow of Institute of Strategic and International Studies. Tan Sri was honoured with 6 Royal Awards for services to the states and nation. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Lin consults, writes, publishes and lectures widely in Malaysia and overseas.
